Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to stop playing for my current grassroots team to be able to be part of the RPP Programme?

No - You do not need to stop playing football with your current Sunday or Saturday team in order to be part of the RPP Programme. The programme is intentionally designed to enable players to continue playing for their current teams and access the innovative player development programme. We do ask that all players commit to our training 2 x a week, in order to ensure the maximum benefit is received by individuals.

Do I have to be signed on for a particular Sunday Youth team in order to be able to take part in the programme?

No - RPP is open to all players regardless of which grassroots club they play for. It is important for us that all players in the local Sussex community have the opportunity to try out and enter the programme without the need to give up playing with their friends in their current grassroots teams.

How many times a week will RPP training take place?

Training will take place 2 x a week on weekdays. The U13 and U14s for the 22/23 seasons (Boys born between 1st Sep 08 and 31st Aug 10) will train on Mondays and Wednesdays.

When will RPP be opening up to other age groups?

RPP will be offering the programme to older age groups in time for the start of the 23/24 season.

If a player is selected for RPP will they be required to “re-trial” every season in order to keep their place on the programme?

No - At RPP we trust our evidenced based player trials to identify players with the greatest future potential. We will commit to supporting and developing all players that are selected at the U13 age group and ensure they have a place on the programme up until U16 provided the player remains committed to the programme. We believe that this will create an environment of psychological safety and ensure that every player that enters the programme gets the most benefit from it.

When will RPP matches be played?

RPP Representative matches will be played at the end of every 6 week training block against other academies. These games will take place during half terms or in place of a training session should opposition availability dictate this. RPP will not be entering a competitive league but may compete in bespoke events such as arranged tournaments from time to time.
